BEACH CLUB BLISS

When people think of beach clubs in the South of France, they usually picture the flashiest names in Saint-Tropez or Cannes—places dripping in rosé bottles and paparazzi flashes. But sometimes, the best spots aren’t the ones dominating your Instagram feed.
One of my personal favorites is Opera Plage in Nice. I’ve been before, and while it doesn’t get a ton of buzz online like La Réserve or Le Club 55, it honestly doesn’t need it. That’s what makes it special.

The Vibe
Opera Plage is Nice’s oldest private beach, established in 1889, but it’s kept its relaxed, approachable atmosphere. Located right on the Promenade des Anglais, it’s easy to find and even easier to love. Think classic white sunbeds lined up on smooth pebbles, calm turquoise waters, and friendly staff who aren’t trying to sell you on €600 magnums every five minutes.
It’s the perfect place to just chill without pretense—no dress code drama, no influencer crowds fighting for the perfect reel. Just genuine Riviera sun, salty breeze, and the simple luxury of doing nothing.

Pricing
For Summer 2025, daybed prices at Opera Plage are approximately:
€25-€35 per day for a standard sun lounger
€10 towel rental if you didn’t pack your own
Slightly more if you want a front-row bed closer to the water
Compared to other beach clubs along the coast, these prices are refreshingly reasonable, especially given its central Nice location.
Menu Highlights
Opera Plage offers a full menu served to your lounger or at their casual restaurant area. Some standouts include:
Salade Niçoise – fresh tuna, anchovies, eggs, and crisp local vegetables
Gambas Plancha – grilled prawns with garlic parsley butter
Frites Maison – classic crispy French fries
Club Sandwich Poulet – chicken club sandwich with fries and salad
Aperol Spritz – because what’s a Côte d’Azur afternoon without one?
Mojitos & Rosé by the Glass or Bottle
Prices for drinks average €10-€15 for cocktails and €6-€8 for beers or sodas. Appetizers range from €10-€20, and main courses from €20-€35, depending on your order.

Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a beach club with crazy bottle service shows, Opera Plage isn’t it. But if you want:
A comfortable sunbed under an umbrella
Chill Mediterranean vibes
Easy access to swim in Nice’s crystal-clear water
A casual lunch with your feet in the pebbles
Then Opera Plage is absolutely worth visiting.
Sometimes, it’s the unassuming spots that end up being your favorite memory. For me, Opera Plage is exactly that—a place where the South of France feels authentic, laid-back, and yours for the day.
